More than 1200 newborn baby girls killed and dumped in the garbage in Pakistan in 2010
More 1,200 newborns were killed and dumped in only Karachi Pakistan last year, and there is an increase of about 200 from the previous year. Its Pakistan’s worst unfolding tragedy of killing and dumping of newborns. Sometimes babies are found hanged; sometimes they kill them with a knife, and sometimes burned. The babies are usually killed when they are just few days old. Their corpses are often dumped in sprawling garbage dumps, sometimes mutilated by street animals, he said. The Main causes are the crippling poverty and lake of education and government has failed to provide and education and majority are jobless are living below poverty levels and most the citizens are without basic needs. The distributions of resources by the government are not enough. The Pakistani government is working hard to improving education, but according to the United Nations more than 55 million Pakistanis remains illiterate. The killing of newborns gets little attention in Pakistan due lacks resources and lake focus on this problem, Girls are seen as a burden by most of Pakistani families and, as they considered them the property of somebody else. Generally many consider the education of a girl as a waste of money. Moreover, when the girl gets married the families are expected to pay a heavy dowry which is seen as a further disadvantage on having a girl child.
