District govt’s anti-dengue drive begins today
LAHORE:
A drive on to promote measures against an outbreak of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) will be launched in Lahore from Sunday (today), District Coordination Officer Ahad Khan Cheema said on Saturday.
He was chairing a meeting of doctors, who recently received special training on public awareness about dengue in Sri Lanka and Thailand.The DCO said that the campaign will include preventive measures, training of doctors, ensuring availability of adequate number of beds and medicines at government hospitals.Cheema said that DHF was curable, He said therefore doctors should play an active role in dispelling fears regarding the disease in the public.
He instructed the authorities concerned to evolve a policy to obtain data of the patients from private clinics and hospitals to ensure the government had a complete picture. A sub-committee had already been constituted to submit recommendations on reporting of patients at private hospitals and provision of medicine to them.The doctors shared their international training experiences with the district government officers.
